1. Antioxidants

The unsaturated double bond in plastic is attacked by oxygen atoms, heat and light and causes the break to produce free radicals, which causes a chain reaction, so that the molecular chain is broken or formed chain cross-linking, and leads to the reduction of the strength of plastic products or brittle. The function of antioxidants is to delay the decomposition of plastic due to oxidation and extend the life of plastic products.

Antioxidants used in the plastics industry can be classified according to their function as follows:

(1) Oxidation chain reaction inhibitor

For example, Alkyl phenol, Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), Aromaticamines, phenyl-b-naphtylamine and alkane pair are Alkyl Quinone, Alkylene bisphenol, Alkyl phenolthioether, Phenyl salicylate, etc.

(2) peroxide decomposing agent

Such as Liu alcohol urgent thioether system, Thio propionate ester, Organic phosphites (Organic phosphites), disulfonic acid system, etc.

(3) heavy metal inactivator

Such as amides, synammoniates, aromatic amine compounds.

2. Antistatic agent

The main function of antistatic agent is to give plastic electrical conductivity, so that it can avoid the accumulation of static electricity caused by friction. By doing so, the commonly used antistatic agents include Quaternary ammoniumsalt, ethylamine, fatty acid esters and Sulfonated wax.

3, Blowingagent (Blowingagent)

There are three main types of plastic blowing agents:

(1) Nitrogen, carbon dioxide, and air are directly pressed into the plastic melt to make foaming;

(2) Volatile liquid such as butane, pentane, petroleum ether, difluorodichloromethane, etc., volatilized expansion after heating, and make the plastic body foaming, common polystyrene foam belongs to this type;

(3) decomposing chemical blowing agents, which are generally solid powders, decompose and release gases (usually nitrogen or carbon dioxide) when heated, which make the plastic produce a cell-like structure and reduce weight.

Such blowing agents are mostly organic azo compounds, such as Azodicarbonamide and azobisisobutyro-nitrile (AIBN for short). Foaming plastics mainly include: ABS, PS, PVC, PU, EVA, PE, PP and so on.

4. Flameretardant (Flameretardant)

When the plastic with non-flammable agent is exposed to the flame, it can automatically inhibit the spread of the flame and prevent the formation of smoke. When the flame is removed, the combustion will stop.

The principle of inflammable agent used by plastic can be roughly divided into three kinds:

(1) Reactivetype (Reactivetype) flammable agent can react with oxygen to form an inert gas, enveloping the combustion material around, reducing the oxygen content of the combustion material, in order to achieve the purpose of termination of combustion. All combustion can produce CO, CO2, NH3 and halogen compounds, such as PVC, PU foam, polyester or epoxy resin, etc.

(2) Non-reactive type (non-reactivetype) flammable agent is containing halogen, phosphorus, nitrogen or boron compounds, when combustion, can decompose a kind of inert material, covering the surface of plastic combustion, forming a layer of obstacles, in order to cut off the oxygen outside, to achieve the purpose of fire resistance.

(3) when water oxide such as alumina refractory agent encounters combustion, it can release water gas, absorb the hot gas of the combustion process, reduce the temperature around the combustion substance to inhibit the spread of flame, and prevent smoke formation.

5. Lubricant

Sliding agent can be divided into internal sliding agent and external sliding agent, the most important function of internal sliding agent is to improve the fluidity of resin, reduce the internal friction between resin molecular chains, such as fatty acid lipids (stearic acid monotriglyceride); External sliders, such as HoechstWax, reduce the adhesion of the resin to the processing machine and improve the smooth surface of the product for easy release.

6, impact resistance modifier (Impactmodifier)

Impact resistance modifiers are usually added by Compounding resins with specific properties to improve impact resistance of plastics. The impact resistant modifier often affects the heat resistance, fluidity or processability of plastics, and must be carefully selected.

7. Plasticizer

8. Coloring Agent

9. Filling Material

Add in the compound material OF PLASTIC in order to reduce the cost, sometimes also can improve the physical properties of plastic, such as hardness, stiffness and impact strength of the relatively inert material called filler. The most commonly used fillers are clay, silicate, talc, carbonate, etc.
