In the past, most damage prevention doors at security checkpoints or retail outlets used bulky gray grilles or columns that lacked visual beauty. Checkpoint Systems' new anti-theft system features a new solution: The NS40 and NS42 anti-theft doors are enclosed in a special light-scattering PLEXIGLAS® Pokley ® casing that seamlessly blends into the retail environment while delivering an elegant, glamorous finish.

Checkpoint Systems NS40 and NS42 Product electronic Security devices: The pole tip is equipped with LED light beads and a Pokeri ® Softlight light-scattering case, which is black when not on, displays the company's designated color when on, and turns bright red when the burglar alarm is triggered.

Look for better light effects

Protection point creates a combination of superior performance and beauty of the product, so that the anti-theft device fully integrated into the store furnishings, as an organic component of the overall design. "Our goal has always been to provide aesthetically appealing products that help our customers stand out from the competition," explains Ben Rubinstein, the company's industrial designer. "As a result, we decided to introduce a series of enhancements to our anti-theft products. While trying to make the appearance as elegant as possible, we found that some of the older models were unsightly when the alarm sounded -- uneven brightness of the alarm lights and dazzling bead 'hot spots' when the anti-theft function was activated." Rubinstein set out to find a material that could even out the light effect of the immobilizer, and was lucky enough to find Pokli ® molding plastic.

Excellent light scattering effect

"It didn't take long for me to realize that the Bokli ® mold had exactly what we were looking for," Rubinstein recalls. At the time, he was developing an innovative Merchandise Electronic Anti-theft (EAS) system for food retail stores. Instead of heavy, visible damage prevention doors, the new system consists of a single elegant riser. The rod head is fitted with an LED tube and comes with an injection molded gray Bokli ® Softlight case. Neville Green, ROM's new business development Manager, explains: "This special molding plastic scatters light exceptionally well, preventing hot spots from appearing. "The RGB LED bead case made from this material enables uniform light effect in thin component conditions." Component thickness is a key consideration for Checkpoint Systems. The NS40 and NS42's compact appearance and clean lines mean that the gap between the LED beads and the casing is minimal.

"The LED beads are a few millimeters away from the housing material," Rubinstein added. "At this distance, the astigmatism of other plastics quickly reaches its limits, but the fact that Pokeli ® mold plastics can uniformly astigmatism no matter how close they are to the LED bead seems like magic to me."

With the NS40 and NS42, Checkpoint Systems offers stealthy-looking EAS systems for the retail industry. Effective and aesthetically pleasing, they blend gracefully into the store's furnishings without a trace, especially in high-end stores.

Durable and versatile

When the alarm light is not on, the Pokeli ® molding plastic has a black appearance that blends gracefully with the understated design of the pole. However, when the light source is activated, the pole displays a combination of light and colour of its own choosing, and when the suspected thief crosses the security device, an alarm is triggered and the pole turns red.

Another advantage of the Romer option is the material's high resistance. PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) is one of the thermoplastic materials with the highest surface hardness, and has good resistance to detergent and other chemicals. "There's a lot of wear and tear on the exit systems," Rubinstein said. Our EAS systems at security checkpoints must be robust and durable for at least 10 years. This not only echoes our customers' increasing investment in sustainability, but also conforms to Baodian's corporate philosophy. We're trying to build a true circular economy, and to do that, almost all of the plastic we use needs to be recyclable."

This is where Pokeli ® stands out: ROM's PMMA materials are durable, inherently sustainable, and 100% recyclable. This combination of features was one of the decisive factors that led to the collaboration between Podopoint and ROM. Because of this, Rubinstein believes the two sides are likely to collaborate on more projects in the future. He concluded, "We have a number of potential applications that are suitable for Pokeli ® products, and we will explore opportunities with ROM in greater depth in the future."
